Thanks, guys! As I may have mentioned before, my perspective on the game is based on my family and their German-perspective on fussball! It took 40 years for my son to realize that he saw everything from the natural defensive German game...because his Dad-and coach- came from Germany! So, I have always been comfortable with a strong defense...and a few capable offensive players who are a threat- when they do attack. That's the part of the game that I've been missing recently with the Sounders. I get frustrated with our defense sitting near the top of the league in stats while our offense is... questionable. If, as you describe, Lodiero, Ruidiaz and crew are smothered, someone should be open don't you think? And I seem to remember that while our CMs don't go forward, Davis and Leerdam spend a lot of time on offense. And I understand that our offense has to face strong coverage, but that is the game and the offensive attack by our opponents seems much more constant than with our guys. Zakuani, Morris, and other Sounders seem to have found a way? Still, they've been winning...despite my complaints!
I'm thinking that if for some reason the offense dries up, then that might force Brian's hand into experimenting with a Bruin/Ruidiaz pairing up front. Let's hope not- I'd rather see the Sounders keep up the Streak and take it all the way to the Final!
