MLS is Back Tournament - "Covid Cup"

Its just the covid cup, the reg season is the prize and SEA is still in very good shape to defend its title. No one is west is distincly better IMO. LAFC is a weaker squad then in 2019, MIN is good yes but beatible for SEA as is anyone else. As long as JoMo, NicLO, and RuiD stay healthy, you good brah.  Yes the D could use work but where there is work to do, we do it. Give it some time.  That being said the MLS cup hangover isnt just about timing its also about mentality. The team need to want to win, they need to be hungry and right now that hunger isnt there yet.

Not really paying attention, so are the Sounders done till 2021? If not, how do they think they're going to play? Can't travel, that'd be dumb. Shouldn't play in COVID hot spots like Florida, bubble or no bubble.

Honestly im so over MLS im completely out of touch these days. Im only interested in Sounders games, but im not going to any unless there's a vaccine, so i genuinely don't know where the league/team goes from here. Just curious.

Covid Cup Championship. Portland vs. Orlando. My assumption (and hope) is that being the hometown boys Orlando will win. However, the Timbers have been growing in confidence and seem to have their game down, so they could just as easily prevail. Whatever. Only the group stage matches count in the regular season matches.

Which brings me to another point- the regular season began in March. The tournament was part of it- not preseason as Schmetzer keeps saying. I understand that with all the long stretches of inactivity, it appears to be starting now (in a weird, truncated form), but technically it is a continuation.

Pretty sure they expanded the postseason to 18 teams, IF they can even manage to play matches without everything going to total shit.

I guess it's like any tournament- you only care about it if you win it. Otherwise, why bother? How many times have we heard that the USOC didn't matter?

To me, the most important aspect of the Covid Cup tournament were the points garnered in the group stage, because they counted as regular season matches. Unless every match counts and the Sounders get maximum points, then getting through the playoffs are going to be difficult. 
Yes, the Sounders are defending champs, but it remains to be seen if they will be able to pick themselves up after the LAFC debacle and right the ship. It would really help if Paulo is healthy and playing alongside Lodeiro, but the back line is still a shambles unless the CB pairing can be fixed. Any players in the transfer window pipeline???

One way or another, MLS does appear to want to finish the season, so let's at least support the boys whatever happens!
