If it's just a dry loan I agree, but I don't think we know that that's the case. I think a six month loan where Swansea pays his salary and a conditional fee based on promotion could be a very good deal for us and is not unrealistic. We aren't buying anyone this window anyway, so saving Morris salary for a few months will free up cap and TAM. If the clause activates we have funds to buy down JP and get a real DP. If it doesn't hit then we have JM back and maybe money to get a TAM player.
To your point about forfeiting the first half of the season, I feel like we already do that and honestly I've given up any hope of ever winning the shield or open cup with Lagerway. So I agree with you and absolutely you're justified in frustration on that, just personally I've become numb to shit soccer pre-July.
Edit: I also think it's important to consider what JM wants and he may want to 'try' England before going all in. For us, Swansea, and JM, a loan + conditional fee could be win/win/win.
Edit2: The S@H article includes this bit, "...the Sounders are unlikely to stand to gain much if anything from a loan...". Obviously not a definitive statement, but some implication that this is a dry loan which, yeah, would just suck.
It's such an awful deal that it makes me wonder what's really going on. Is Morris desperate to go? Is the team bleeding cash?
