Edit2: The S@H article includes this bit, "...the Sounders are unlikely to stand to gain much if anything from a loan...". Obviously not a definitive statement, but some implication that this is a dry loan which, yeah, would just suck.

My understanding is that it's a six month loan with an option to buy if Swansea get promoted. That could be a rumor, but if true, it's a pretty lousy deal. Not only would Morris have to play well enough to be signed, but the rest of Swansea would have to perform as well.

It's such an awful deal that it makes me wonder what's really going on. Is Morris desperate to go? Is the team bleeding cash?

Currently Swansea is 2nd in the CL half way through the season. They seem likely to be promoted, although not guaranteed.

I think Morris is desperate to leave. He's proven everything he can in MLS. If he's to grow any more as a player, he needs to challenge himself in a stronger league. And despite what MLS fanboys will tell you, yes, the CL is a stronger league than MLS. Personally i think Morris could do better than CL, but if Swansea get promoted, then he'll get that chance. The real question for him is what kind of football do they play? I haven't watched Swansea so i don't know, but he needs to be on a team that counters, and that has players who can deliver a ball to his feet in stride. That's where he's best.

A question I had was how will this affect his dad as the Sounders Team Doctor? It's been a great situation for Morris to have his father close by to be there for him, but will Jordan be on his own in Great Britain? While I'm sure they will have this handled, it made me wonder.

From what I've read, the preferred style of their coach Steve Cooper sounds a lot like how the Sounders play.

Well again, unless it's obligation to buy this deal is lame for Sounders. For Jordan this is a great move. Six months to integrate with his new team yet compete for something right away. If it goes well, he's gearing up for a PL season has his coach's trust to help keep the team up. If it goes badly, back to Seattle. No real downside for him.

On the upshot, all the Championship games are on ESPN+ and having nothing else to do these days, I will soon be able to look forward to Swansea matches.

With Morris leaving, is Winger our biggest on-field need? I know Garth, for whatever reason, hates wingers but off the top of my head i don't think we have a single legit winger on the roster. Depth is a problem at every position, but for the most part the starters we have are pretty decent. Except our midfield flanks.

Yes, unless we change the formation. I see the bones of a good 5-2-1-2 formation, but we'd need a a right wingback, a center back, and probably another striker.
