Reddit and S@H are full of ARoldan love. Ngl, making me wonder if our group here isn't the ones who are wrong. I'm with you and most here that ARoldan is pretty bad but I'm sort of baffled as to why no one else seems to see it.

He (A Rhodan) does seem to be a good crosser of the ball on the attack, which is not that common. I know Nouhou never got the hang of it. I don't think he's that bad on defense either.

Yes...this drove me crazy!!! While a yellow card is being given out, we miss everything because they focus on a player who may or may not be coming on to the field! The victory took away some of the frustration, so I didn't repeat my complaint from last season...glad you did!

And one more thing...contemplating Alexi Lalas....how many of you are old enough to have seen him and the USMNT playing a friendly with Russia in 1994 at the Kingdome? Or Pele- in 1975- play at Memorial Stadium with the Cosmos? Fun memories!

Perhaps some folks are willing to turn a blind eye to ARoldan’s weaknesses and missteps because, like last night, he had a great assist (Montero’s goal). Or maybe they cannot put their love for CRoldan aside and want his little bro to stick around. IDK...just some potential reasons.

I do think there is a hesitancy within the overall fanbase to say anything critical about the team. Partly I think that's because of the S@H fanboi cult that attacks anyone who does, partly because that's just part of a Northwestrener's DNA. But that's all just my theory though.
As far as Roldan, I think he gets a longer leash simply because he's Cristian's brother. If he wasn't i honestly think he'd get more heat. For example I don't think he's any better than Bawalla, but fans had no problem dumping on Bawalla.

I never dumped on Bwana; I just had overly high expectations that he never quite lived up to. I still hope he gets to flower at a new club. As for A. Rholdan, I do have memories of some really bad defenders we've had at right back and he's just not that bad. I think he suffers from comparison with Leerdam, but that's to be expected. For the price, he's a good value as a player.

It will be interesting to see how Alex fares in this new formation. Certainly it will be different from playing RB in a four-man back line. When asked, Schmetzer said there would be "bumps in the road" for him and other young players like Atencio.
In hindsight, Minnesota was probably a good side to go up against in their first match.

LAFC away will be a much tougher test.
