Sure but like INVINCIBLE 2023 Fantasy Champ said above it's the opportunity cost. By signing him as a DP it cost us two U22 player spots. Is Rusnak better than a TAM player and two additional U22s? In the long term certainly not, so he's got to be an out of the park signing over the next two seasons for this to be considered good. A durable Victor Rodriguez, imo, would not be good enough.
I'll add that this is 100% a knock on the front office and not the player. I have no problem cheering for Rusnak and believing he can do great for us. In fact, I think it's likely that the result is both things are true - Rusnak does very well and earns his contract but also this was not the best use of resources.
I dont know, I'm struggling to see any downside from this signing at all. For me, it's a DP that "could" be bought down, that is going to produce and is a possible heir to Nico...Last year, all we wanted was some that could play in Nico's hole, now we have one and everyone is going "but but but...". Myabe I'm the one with the Rose (Claret? lol) Colored Glasses on.
One key point of clarification is Rusnak can't be bought down. With him and Ruidiaz now resigned we literally cannot sign another two U22s until 2024 when Lodeiro's contract expires (unless we bought one of them out).
