Another match I didn't get to watch most of. At least it won't clutter up the DVR once I delete it.
Question I have: Have the Sounders become this bad, or have other teams just figured out how to play against them? Notwithstanding injuries this is pretty much a first-choice lineup and we haven't scored a goal in three matches!
Otoh, we have gotten bad. A part from individual performances not being what they used to be (i.e Morris), as a team we just look slow, uninterested, disorganized, and completely devoid of ideas.
The last time.we.were this bad, we got a new coach. This time, I think we just need a whole new roster. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I really feel like it's time to truly rebuild the roster from the top to the bottom. And no, I don't mean just signing more Academy kids for cheap.
My "learned perspective" on this is that we do miss the likes of JP, etc. AND several players are not playing up to the level we expect. I was so excited at the shot Morris took in the first 8 minutes...then things turned back. Our defense lacks leadership- everyone runs around, no cohesive lines, no staying with their "man", etc. On top of that, the one-man defensive line, Nouhou, is often way upfield - good for offense but not defense if you don't have a cohesive line back there. Marshall could always be counted on to hold things together if other defenders carried the ball upfield. Not the case now. Lodiero still isn't playing like he did before injury. Communication is missing onfield, energy is low BUT I would not want to lose the Roldans or Nouhou or our goalies. The rest....?
