Our boys in Rave Green are on the road in ATX for a match that is quite interesting on paper.
We are currently 7th West (+5 goal difference) with Austin sitting at 9th (-6 GD). We are on our first win streak of the season and have been getting positive results lately (four wins and one draw in the last five MLS matches). ATX have one win and two draws in their last five, with their last win coming back on 15 May. They also happen to be the lowest-scoring side in the West (third fewest goals in the league). All time, we lead the head-to-head: three wins, three draws, one loss. We hosted ATX in matchweek two--scoreless draw on 2 March.
The reason I think this could be an interested match is multifaceted. We had a midweek USOC match on the road, but there was some squad rotation and some guys got subbed on/off; however, we won and have all the momentum. Morris and Rusnak have been firing on all cylinders, and we have been creating dangerous chances and putting away goals. If we can hold strong in the back against the struggling ATX, we should be flying home with three points. On the one hand, however, ATX are desperate and will be playing in front of their passionate fans so may just go all-out--Zardes has been the hottest player as of late; on the other hand, if they do go full on desperation mode then that could make them even more susceptible to speed and attack. Honestly, if we continue to play higher-pace, high press (rather than dinking around in the back), I predict a good evening to be a Sounder! Oh--and the last time we played @atx (back on 30 Aug. 2023), we won 2-1 with goals from Morris and Rusnak.

*Marrufo has been the official for 26 Sounders matches in his career. Win-Draw-Loss percentages for us when he is in charge is pretty good: 57.7% wins, 15.4% draws, 26.9% losses. We average 1.88 points per game when he has the whistle. On the road, however, the numbers get closer: out of ten road matches we have 5 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses with 1.6 PPG. He has only been in charge for four ATX matches, 2 wins and 2 losses with a 1.5 PPG average; half of those were home matches for ATX--1 win and 1 loss, 1.5 PPG. (referee stats from WhoScored.com)
